Jeff Schoening is in his 17^th year as Band Director of Treynor Schools. Recently JEFF worked as Assist. Head Director for the Southwest Honor Band and accompanied them to the Fiesta Bowl in Phoenix, Arizona. Jeff said there were 228 Honor Band members this year. Ten were selected from Treynor, the largest contingent ever selected. The Honor Band participants were selected from over 500 auditions. Jeff explained the Honor Band has a 4-day camp in August to get acquainted with the music and marching together. Then they perform at the State Fair and at SW Iowa Band contests before the Fiesta Bowl trip. Jeff noted that this was the 11^th edition of the Honor Band, which is organized every two years. Next time Jeff will be the Head Director and they are considering a trip to the Macy’s Parade in New York.
